In nature, few species reflect renewal, resilience, and balance as clearly as the starfish. This marine creature possesses an extraordinary ability: when it loses one of its arms, it can regenerate it over time and restore its complete form.

That silent strength to recover and keep moving forward is what inspires the concept “We Are Renewable Energy”,  the slogan of ExpoEnergía 2026.

Like the starfish, renewable energy has the ability to transform, adapt, and remain in harmony with its environment, harnessing natural resources without depleting them. It represents a system that learns, evolves, and moves forward, driven by innovation and respect for the planet.

At an important moment for Ecuador—when transforming the energy matrix is more than a challenge, it is an urgent necessity—the starfish becomes a symbol of balance, regeneration, and hope. It reminds us that, just as in ecosystems, energy systems can heal and grow stronger when they work in harmony with nature.

Its shape also carries a powerful message: connection and cooperation. Each arm can represent a key stakeholder—government, industry, innovation, society, and the environment—moving in sync to achieve a fair and sustainable energy transition.

That is why the starfish is far more than a visual icon: it is a living metaphor for the spirit that drives ExpoEnergía 2026, a call to regenerate the way we produce, consume, and share energy.
