Quito, January 2026. – Within the framework of the official presentation of ExpoEnergía & Energy Summit Ecuador 2026, held on January 21, representatives from the public and private sectors, multilateral organizations, and international cooperation agencies agreed on a central message: Ecuador must urgently move toward a more diversified, resilient energy transition with clear, long-term regulatory frameworks.

The meeting highlighted that the vulnerability of the electricity system, aggravated by its high dependence on hydropower, requires a structural response that combines planning, technological innovation, and sustainable financing. In this context, ExpoEnergía and the Energy Summit are positioned as a national platform that connects diagnosis, market, and investment, transforming decisions into concrete projects.

During the event, representatives of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and diplomatic delegations emphasized the importance of diversifying the energy matrix, strengthening legal certainty, and mobilizing private capital to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and the modernization of the electricity system.

Eduardo Rosero, President of the Ecuadorian Association of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (AEEREE), highlighted the need to reduce hydropower dependence through new technologies, energy storage, and distributed generation.

ExpoEnergía & Energy Summit Ecuador 2026 will take place on March 4–5 at the Centro de Convenciones Metropolitano de Quito, integrating a commercial exhibition, a technical summit, and a business matchmaking roundtable, with the objective of fostering partnerships, investments, and a sustainable energy transition for Ecuador.
